About Us

The “m2m: Mission to Michigan” is a combined effort of local northern New York churches to send real assistance to residents of Michigan, primarily in the Detroit area. Whole churches involved thus far are Calcium Community Church and Pleasant Meadows Baptist Church, with additional support coming from members of other nearby congregations.

Why Detroit? Good question. Detroit is being impacted by loss of major employers, vastly diminished home values, increasing crime and vandalism and other negative factors. The city has essentially dropped off of everyone’s radar screen against areas with floods, earthquakes, wild fires, oil spills and equally attention-grabbing “hot news” items. But residents there are not forgotten. They need help, too. Google “detroit michigan” to learn more about the situation there.

Our intention is to develop the means to provide individuals and communities with home repairs, community clean up, some transportation needs, spiritual comfort and prayer development. We believe that working singly and in groups, we can aid local churches there in carrying out the Great Commission of Jesus while accomplishing visible, tangible help to our brothers and sisters in need.

How can you get involved and help with this mission? There will be a need for folks with any sort of skill, from housekeeping to painting rooms and porches, to making simple home repairs or providing transportation to medical appointments, general errands to grocery stores and more.

It is the request of team leader Len Hamilton that all volunteers be able to provide for their own transportation and meals in this mission, but that is not a firm requirement. Supplies for any task will be provided by m2m: Mission to Michigan to the greatest extent possible. We want to show Christ’s love by bringing IN resources to aid others, NOT take things away from those we intend to serve.

Occasional updates will be posted on this site as well as OneChurchInChrist.com and GospelWord.org with links to all news posted on other church websites as well.

Len expects to head to Detroit as soon as sufficient funds are received to support basic functions of the mission for at least four to five weeks, and has committed himself to a minimum of two years to the project. He is developing his own separate maintenance funds for personal essentials and meals for this mission, and has other mission goals and opportunities he will pursue in interim times.

About One Church in Christ

“One Church in Christ” is a website he is developing to show that despite all the confusion and conflicting beliefs that the original Church – the Body of the Living Christ – is divided into separate and somewhat unrelated churches, they are all united in Christ even though those churches themselves may think otherwise at times.

Of course, the essence of being all united in Christ is based on whether or not they actually are dedicated to following Christ and actively engaged in carrying out His desire, His command, as stated in Scripture found in Matthew chapter 28 verses 18 through 20:

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”

The reference above comes from the King James Version of the Bible. Yours may read just a bit differently; in any version the meaning is the same and Jesus’ command is clear. Thus, all churches following His command are united, whatever their outward appearance and internal differences.

Visit OneChurchInChrist.com and get a better view of things. May God bless your understanding and increase your dedication to living out the words of His only begotten Son.
